The Aevum- Prayers to Guide Our Day

Aevum is latin for ‘lifetime’, or ‘passing time’. Each time we lift our hearts to Dea or turn our minds to Her contemplation, we bring our souls that tiny bit closer to Her. One way to do so so is with regular prayer. These can be memorized, written in a prayerbook, kept on your phone, or read from the site directly!

You are always welcome to write your own prayers. Some of us, however, find value in knowing that our foremothers wrote these prayers, and we continue the golden chain of their devotion. This is why the origin of the prayers is included whenever possible- so we may feel the expanse of time and voices who have prayed these words before us.

And the Maid ruled over all the world,
making the earth grow fruitful and attending
to the prayers of Her creatures, and
oftentimes making prayers of Her own that
they might come closer to the Mother. And
Divine Light shone once more upon the earth,
and the Maid was a friend to every creature,
and all who turned to Her were filled with life,
and with the peace that comes of wholeness.

The Mythos of the Divine Maid, Chapter 3

Before each aevum prayer, it’s important to center our hearts and minds, even if just for those few moments. First, trace the Fora upon yourself while praying:

In the Name of the Mother, and of the Daughter, and the Great Mother. Blessed is She.

Then, bow your head and bring your hands together. Hold them before your eyes, taking 3 deep and centering breaths. Visualize yourself breathing in the silver light of the Daughter, the golden life of the Mother, or the pure crystalline peace of the Great Mother, and let it fill your entire body. Then pray:

Blessed is Our Mother God, the Holy One.

She Who is Mari,

She Who is Janah,

She Who is Mysteria,

Blessed is She.

Amadea.

The Aurora Prayer

The Aurora Prayer is to be said on waking, or before starting your day. The morning is the time of The Holy Daughter, holy Janah, whose rising eternally brings light and joy to the world.

Daughter of Light, that reigns as Queen of Heaven, all praise and honor we joyfully give to You. Give us to learn that You are by our side in every act that we make. Teach us obedience and humility, and the joy of heart that comes of self-forgetting. Help us to be clear mirrors of Your love; reflecting all the beauty of the world; for beauty is the echo of eternity.

Fix our hearts on the eternal, and let us not be turned from You by transient things. Rescue us from the hands of darkness that we may serve You with all our being here and in Your bright eternity.

Blessed are You.

Amadea.

The Noontide Prayer

The Noontide Prayer is to be said at noon when the Sun reaches her zenith and banishes all shadow. Noon is the time of The Celestial Mother, holy Mari, whose ever-shining love constantly shapes and holds creation.

Oftentimes, we are not at home or able to find free time during Noontide. In such a case, a simple prayer will do or even raising our hearts and thoughts to our Celestial Mother and telling Her that we love Her.

O, Where shall I hear my Lady’s voice? Where shall I feel my Lady’s touch? Where smell the fragrant Holy Rose and be warmed by the Holy Fire? O, where shall I see Her, where can I find Her? O, where can my Lady be?

Be calm, gentle soul, for you never are lost, for you dwell all the while with Her. Tis your mind that has strayed and the thoughts of your mind that obscure Her now from you. Now, cleanse your mind of the darkest thoughts, and be turned again to Her. Now go inside you, seek within you, for tis there that your Lady abides.

For though She is beyond you, She is also within you, and your being is wholly in Her. And within shall you feel Her and see Her and hear Her, and within know Her nectar and fragrance divine. Within is the warmth of She who is love, and the warmth of Her Love is the Warmth that surrounds you…for in you is where the Flame of My love burns bright.

Amadea.

The Eventide Prayer

The Eventide Prayer is to be said before sleep in honor of the Great Mother, whose unfathomable hand shapes the hours from sundown til the darkest hour before the dawn.

Great Mother, to Whom all the thousands of the days are as one and yet, Who knowest more of the small events of my past day than I; receive my spirit at the ending of the day and protect her though the night.

Holy shimmering darkness beyond the light, sublime light beyond the dark. You, who are unknowable, but knows all. You, who are unmanifest, but manifests all. Great veiled stillness, centre of all life, all mind, all soul,

We bow before You in reverent awe. Blessed are You.

Amadea.
